Graphic histories
Graphic histories are generally drawn live with a group. Together the group discusses the organisation's successes, failures, trends, significant events and people – these are then captured live on a large wall chart to build up a picture of the organisation's journey. A graphic history honours the past and helps to draw out learnings – it's extremely useful when an organisation is about to go through a change or set new directions. It's also a great prelude to strategic planning. And graphic histories have a life beyond the meeting – they're often expanded and developed further post-event.

Strategy maps
Strategic plans all too often become invisible, residing in the heads of a few or the pages of a plan that is rarely opened. People lose sight of the big picture and how what they are doing fits in. Strategy maps show, in a form that everyone can see and understand, the organization’s vision and the steps it is taking to achieve it.

Strategy maps are generally developed in the studio following one or more strategy workshops with the client.

System diagrams
System diagrams help groups to see the big picture and to understand how things are connected across time and space. System diagrams help address "silo thinking" and can be very helpful when working with groups of stakeholders from different parts of the system.

System diagrams are either drawn by us ahead of a meeting or developed interactively with a group during a meeting.

Interactive system modelling

Even in the simplest business or process, there are many interdependencies. It is difficult for people to predict the system’s behaviour – our brains just aren't designed for this type of task. Not surprisingly then, groups often make decisions without really knowing what effect those decisions will have on their business.

Using system dynamics modelling software, we help groups develop valuable insights into how various factors affect their business. We work with groups to build (in real time) an operational picture of their business or systems. Together we work out “what’s hooked up to what.” More than a static picture, the model can be then be run as an animated simulation providing an insight into how the system behaves and enabling the group to investigate “what-if” scenarios.
